Todd and I are both natives to Washington. We love the Pacific Northwest and also love to travel. When on vacation, we prefer to stay in a home, as opposed to a hotel. A perfect get-away for us is to sit on a tropical beach and read a good book, cook our own meals and sleep in. This has been a contributing factor to how we ended up with our vacation rental home.
Todd lived in Germany for three years while serving in the Army. I lived in Florida for three years, “just because I could”. We met and were married in 1994 in Seattle, WA. Collectively, we have four adult children, three dogs and two cats.
Todd and I visited Leavenworth in 1995 and fell in love with the area. We dreamed of moving here, but with four kids in high school it was not practical at the time. We continued to dream about what life would be like “when” we moved to Leavenworth. We decided that this adventure should also prepare us for our retirement and perhaps start our own business. Our question was how to do it? Todd asked me one day, “What do you love to do?” “Decorate and entertain” was my first answer. So we agreed that we should incorporate my enthusiasm for entertaining and decorating into a home business.
Once our youngest daughter finished school and moved out, I began perusing the real estate websites in search of our new home. It had to be someplace that people would want to come and relax. I also thought it would be fun to host weddings. After nearly a year of searching for the perfect place, we found our dream home. In November of 2004 we signed the papers, and before you knew it, it was time to move – almost. My employer was agreeable that I could continue to work remotely, so it was easy for me to move to Leavenworth. However, Todd’s job was selling media advertisement, so it was not as easy for him to move. He stayed in western Washington for five years, and commuted on the weekends. Finally we were in a position that he could get a job in Wenatchee and move here permanently.
When my father passed away in 2008, we worried about my mom living alone, far away from any family. Finally, in 2012 she decided to move in with us. This has altered our original plans for a vacation home, but our passion for creating a relaxing and inviting place for people to travel has remained the same.
Over the years we have had many guests enjoy their vacations in our home and they have become our friends. We have hosted numerous beautiful weddings and feel honored that we are included in these important events. We hope you enjoy our suite and welcome you to Leavenworth!
